I’ve finally started work on the Tasmanian Elegies photobook project. It has been a long gestation period — probably 15 years from when I first started visiting Tasmania to make some photos centred around Queenstown. With the demise of the thoughtfactory.com.au website and its gallery of Tasmanian photos the project’s residual and current public form is a Tumblr blog that is no longer being updated.
Hence this post.
The preface for Tasmanian Elegies has been written. It reads okay. I am happy with it. I’m currently working on (well, to be honest, I’m really struggling to edit) the background Heidegger essay currently entitled ‘Heidegger, technocracy and poiesis’. The essay back ends the series of photos in the book with the essay designed to give some philosophical interpretation to the project.

I will upload the Preface to the text section of the Light Paths website in the near future. At this stage the essay is in no condition to be uploaded. It is repetitive, needs pruning and is still in a bit of a mess, unfortunately.
